The Ontario Wildlife Coalition is gravely concerned about wildlife in Ottawa due to the direction the Mayor and council are headed in regarding the city’s Wildlife Strategy. A draft was recently made public, and the potential ramifications are significant. We need YOUR help!
One of our supporters, Diane Haynes, said it best, "We BC-ers certainly sent mixed messages to our governmental leaders yesterday. We care, but not enough to vote. We prefer the values of the NDP, but we're going to stick with letting the Liberals lead us ... oh, except our Premier: she can't get into the Legislature because we didn't elect her in her own riding."
Sign our petition to ban the leg hold trap! Trapping is an inherently violent practice that is as unnecessary as it is cruel. All leg hold traps are designed to hold a wild animal who does not want to be caught. As such, many animals die trying to free themselves, as well as from dehydration, blood loss and hypothermia. Many animals become so desperate, they resort to chewing or wringing off their own trapped limb in order to escape, breaking teeth and bones in the process.
Urge BC to become a leader in the humane treatment of wildlife.
Help ban the leg hold trap!
