When beavers go bad

This cute little fellow was found by Oregon City police trying to cross a busy street.
Local authorities managed to escort the little fellow back to his home, I bet he had some explaining to do when he showed back up at the pond with a police escort.

Toronto Vigil

On November 12th, 2012 supporters gathered in downtown Toronto to show their support for Fur-Bearer's and held a silent vigil remembering the millions of lives lost in the fur trade every year.

Three bear cubs rescued from dumpster

Three bear cubs who had been stranded in a dumpster over night were rescued by some good Samaritans.

Please note we do not encourage people to approach wildlife even if they are in distress. Please call a local rescue agency if you come across an animal in distress.

Lily and her kits

Some of you may remember the plight of Lucky and Lily who were the beaver pair that the city of Ottawa wanted to trap and kill. After great public support the pair were saved. Unfortunately the city then decided to destroy the lodge that this young family lived in. In this sweet video we see Lily and one of her two young kits, Harmony, swimming and enjoying a snack.

If you want to help Lily and her two kits, Hope and Harmony, please send a message to Ottawa's Mayor, Jim Watson, and let him know that alternatives to removing beavers do exist. jim.watson@ottawa.ca

The city had been trapping and killing the beavers for over 25 years. With the push from a committed group of volunteers the city agreed to implement some non-lethal alternatives.
