Edit Your Letter<p>Dear Mr. Reiss,<br /><br /> Each year, tens of thousands of coyotes are trapped and killed for use as fur trim on your coats and hats. Stolen from their families and homes, these sensitive, intelligent animals often spend hours or even days stuck in cruel traps where common injuries include broken bones and teeth, gashed eyes, and severe internal bleeding. This stands in stark contrast to your stated commitment to “the humane treatment of animals”. <br /><br /> In order to justify this blatant cruelty, you claim to use coyote fur “only as absolutely necessary” to survive “the coldest places on earth”, conveniently ignoring the fact that most Canadians are not Arctic explorers, and that even those who are have no need for animal fur.<br /><br /> Mr. Reiss, fur is neither humane nor necessary. As such, I am joining LUSH and The Association for the Protection of Fur-Bearing Animals in urging Canada Goose to stop killing Canada’s wildlife, who need their fur in a way we never would.</p>
